Spin Cycle: Name Game

This week the task
Of the Sprite's Keeper spin
Is to write in verse
So we can all be like Jen.

What better topic
For a mom's bloggy poem
Than to write about baby names?
Let's talk about some.

For with Aiden and Jayden
And Caden and Brayden,
It's not hard to rhyme
(Oh, and don't forget Hayden).

I hope that you don't
Take offense at our rule;
At our house, we rule out
Those names that are "cool."

There is nothing wrong
With a "normal" name, true,
But I had 15 Jennifers at my school,
Didn't you?

So as much as I like
The names Caleb and Noah,
You can be sure they won't be
On Beeper's new brother.

That's a little about
How we choose our names;
What are your strategies
For the baby name game?

And don't forget
To give post rhyming a try
Visit the Keeper
And set your blog on Spin Dry.

I love it! Great Spin, Arwen! We actually stole Sprite's given name from my sister who always wanted to use it for a little girl. But she had a boy, got divorced, no plans to use it, I snuck in and took it. With permission, of course. You're linked!

Very cute!
My husband wanted each of our kids to have his middle name, so most of our name game was based around what sounded good together. Usually when he heard the name he liked he would say that's it, and it was!! Although we went through the baby name books thousands of times before Baby J finally had a name Daddy liked and just in time too!!
Good luck with your name game!!

Yup. At least 15 Jennifers at my school. There were 5 of us in my 5th and 6th grade class alone. I don't have kids yet, but I'm all about naming them somthing fun when I do!
Great spin!

I love the poem, and the sentiment! All of our children have a 6-letter, 2-syllable first name that starts with "W" (Winter, Willem, Walker) and a 4-letter, 1-syllable middle name (Beth, West, and Cash!) Yay for unique names!

A name for girl or boyz
can smell
if not carefully chose
and won't go well.

We thought that Thain
was a wonderful name
but, "Why did you call him Fang?"
an oft heard comment became.

So stick close to home
and don't let the moniker
of your new little gnome
become the subject of comics, sir.
