Happy Birthday, Chebber!

The Spin Cycle topic this week is "Friendship." I know it's cliche and corny, but my best friends are firebirdluver and Beeper. I'm sure you don't want to hear about that, so I'll just say that not seeing my most bestest friend for two weeks is a painful reminder that we don't know what to do without him. Only one week and two days until he returns from down under. And here's a tidbit from Beeper this morning: "Mama, can you make one more baby, and then that's enough?"

He also told me this morning, "Today is my imaginary friend's birthday!" You see, the other day Beeper mentioned Chebber to Grandma, and she asked who that was. I told her, "Chebber is Beeper's imaginary friend." Ever since then, he will start to say, "Chebber," then stop himself and refer to him instead as, "My imaginary friend..." I guess he wants to make sure he gets his nomenclature right. It's cute and a little heartbreaking at the same time.

After learning about Chebber, Grandma asked lots of questions about him, so we have been learning a little more about him. He is apparently quite small, has a baby of his own, and gets in trouble a lot.

Having an imaginary friend around is pretty cool. One of Beeper's favorite things to do is chase Chebber around and around. Sometimes he'll stop and say, "I lost Chebber. Which way did he go?" I then have to admit that I didn't see him. Then he'll spot Chebber and be off running again.

Right now Beeper and Grandma are in the kitchen making chocolate muffins for Chebber's birthday. I hope he shares.
