Happy Halloween

This four-year-old really, really wanted to be the Declaration of Independence for Halloween this year. My kid? Wanted to be a video game character. Next up: My nomination for the Mother of the Year award.

Actually, Mario was a huge hit with the librarians yesterday. Everyone thought he was so cute. And I was happy to have such an easy to put together costume: a shirt from Walmart (and he needed new long-sleeve shirts for winter anyway), the re-purposed overalls, and my hat with a paper "M" taped to it.

I think I mentioned last year that school kids in Nevada get the 31st off for Nevada Day. Except this year, since that's a Saturday, they get the 30th off. Which meant the preschooler party at the library was on the 29th. This is the first year we've gone, and Beeper really enjoyed himself. It was just the right amount of holiday fun for his age - half a dozen games with half a dozen prizes (candy and cheesy little toys). Ten minutes of fun and being admired in his cute overalls before going home for lunch and a nap.

Little Fish actually seemed to enjoy himself too, from his stroller point of view, although he did seem a little upset that he didn't get to play basketball. His costume was the Curious George outfit I made for Beeper when he was a baby. (Obviously it was a little looser than on his ten-month-old brother, but it still worked):

Yes, I did make the yellow hat. No, I didn't wear it yesterday. I donned my Indiana Jones hat and a faux leather coat and went as an archeologist.

I love it!! I wanted Amir and I to be Mario and Luigi, but Amir wasn't diggin it. Beeper was a better Mario anyway!

Loving the costumes. And no, you're not a bad mom. You're a great one who lets her child be who he wants to be. That is what matters.
