The other day, Beeper came running down the hall, yelling his most excited yell, "Mama, Mama! Daddy says we're going to see a JET museum on our trip!"
I realized last night that it may sound strange that we're so excited to be taking him to a bunch of museums and that I would compare that to Disneyland. Well, for our little almost-four-year-old, there is no negative connotation to the word, "museum." There is no sense of boring.
I attribute this mostly to his second year of life. That was the year we travelled a ton, and he experienced several different children's museums and a few train and plane museums. Since then his experience has been more limited - a trip last year to the children's museum in Salt Lake and several trips to our local museum. Our local museum was his second home for a month or two this year. It became such a part of our routine that he would often say, "Can we go to the muh-seum today?" (Unfortunately, he pronounces it correctly now.)
But really, have you been to a children's museum lately? It's no wonder if this new generation learns to associated the word museum with, "fun."
