Me, me, me

This week's Spin Cycle topic is, "All About ME." That's a tough one, but here it goes. Here are a few things you may or may not know about me:

The first time I left Utah was when I was (almost) 24. It was also my first time on an airplane. I went on a trip to Florida with my sister. It happened to be when the Olympics were in Salt Lake. That's right. We could have witnessed an historic event (maybe - it's not easy to get tickets to those things) but we chose instead to buy airplane tickets and get out of town. We had a blast.

I've been a Cub Scout Den Leader twice. I really didn't enjoy it either time. My training classes tend to have a lot of advice along the lines of, "Don't be like me."

My favorite color is orange, because I like to be different. I was shocked when, a few years ago, I was lucky enough to have a free professional color consultation, and I learned orange is actually one of my best colors (to wear).

When I was little and people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I'd tell them a mom. They'd always reply, "And...?" so I started making up other stuff, like astronaut, basketball player, architect. I even believed it myself sometimes. But now? I really, really like being a mom. I'd rather do that than anything.

I'd also rather be writing about Beeper. :p

Hard, huh? :-)
I know that our generation was expected to be so much more than "mom", like we had to have it all. What if having it all meant simply being a mom? What is wrong with it if you want it?
Great Spin!
You're linked!

I am a mom and a wife--two role I chose to do. I'm also lots of other things but those are the two most important ones. It's too bad we have to qualify being a mom as a working mom, stay at home mom, soccer mom, etc. Why can't we just be moms?

One of my sisters decribes her work condition as "Domestic Goddess." I rather like that one. I think that the title of "Mom" is one of the most overlooked and underrated positions ever. It ranks right up there with "Dad." What more important work could be done?

I think being a mom sounds wonderful. Especially since I'm sure you put all your heart and soul into be a really good one!

My greatest blessings call me Mom. I do admire you women who can handle the stress of being a stay at home mom. I love being with my boys, but I love the break I get from them by going to work as well.
