Tree House

I promised pictures when this was done. It's taken two summers to get it to this point. Firebirdluver probably has more plans for this, but it is to a complete enough stage that Beeper and the neighborhood kids can go up and down. They love it. Beeper finally got up enough courage to climb all the way up the rock wall. Now he loves climbing the wall, then descending the ladder.

Little Fish's favorite part is the sandbox. The sand came from someones ranching property out in the middle of nowhere. A relative gave us one of those diggers you can sit on and work the shovel like an excavator. The kids love it, even though it has to be taken out to put the cover over the sandbox. I sewed the cover from a heavy-duty tarp. Firebirdluver added grommets at the corners, and there are hooks on the sandbox to hook it down (it's screwed in at two corners so it doesn't blow away). They only remember to put the cover on about half the time. Oh well.

Firebirdluver designed and built almost everything. The rings and rope ladder (actually two rope ladders tied together) came from IKEA. The rocks for the climbing wall came from here. The rest is firbirdluver. He really pays attention to the details. Take a look at the floor of the tree house. Isn't it beautiful?

You can see earlier pictures here, here and here.
