What you should know about social networking

I admit I don't know much about social networking. We stubbornly persist in not getting facebook or twitter accounts. While it means missing out on the chance to enter an occasional giveaway, I still think it's for the best.

Those of you who do use facebook or similar places may already know about privacy settings, but in case you don't, here is something you should know:

That's why I don't care for the "smartphone" crap. Even on regular cell phones is a GPS locator (for emergency response personnel in finding you when you call 911). There are ways to turn it off and make things more secure. A nationally renowned night news station did a whole show on this sort of thing... I believe they focused on those that take pictures and post them. Essentially they too advised turn OFF the geotracker on your phones when doing such things. They also did a show on software that people can use to hack into your cell phone - only way past that is to remove the battery. I don't pay for tv, so it's whatever is broadcast over the free channels.
